How Karooli decides, builds, and ships.
Karooli is a product studio. We build software that solves real human problems with intention, not noise. This page explains the mechanics of how we work, the way we pick problems, the way we design, and the way we ship.
There is only one filter, and it is the same for every product. Does this solve something real for a human? If the answer is anything other than an obvious yes, we walk away.
Notice what's missing
The problems worth solving rarely show up in a strategy deck. They show up in a friend's voice. In a pause before someone answers an honest question. In the quiet that follows a hard week.
We pay attention to those. We talk to real people, in long-form, with no script. We collect what they say, look for what repeats, and only then ask whether software can help.
Test the filter
There is only one filter. It is the same one for every product, every feature, every line of code. Does this solve something real for a human?
Not, is the market big. Not, can we raise on it. Not, is it technically impressive. Just, will a real person feel a real improvement in a real moment of their real life. If the answer is anything other than an obvious yes, the idea does not get built.
Design for restraint
Most modern software optimises for engagement. We optimise for the opposite. Our products should leave you with more attention than they took. Honest use of a Karooli product sometimes means closing it.
That changes how we design. No infinite feeds. No streaks. No nags. No engagement metrics treated as success. The default is calm. The default is quiet. The default is, do the smallest thing that helps, and then get out of the way.
Build slowly, in small teams
We are a small studio on purpose. Each product is owned end-to-end by a small group of people who share taste and accountability. That makes decisions faster, the work tighter, and the result more coherent.
We don't outsource craft. Design, engineering, voice, motion, all of it sits with the team. We move at the speed of attention, not at the speed of headcount.
Ship with honest scope
Before any Karooli product reaches a user, it gets a plain-English scope statement. What the product does, what it does not do, what controls you have, and where to find help when software is the wrong answer.
That is non-negotiable. Software in the human space carries weight. The least we owe a user is the truth about what we built.
Iterate from real signal
Once a product is in the world, we listen. Not to dashboards alone, those lie. We listen to the long-form messages from people who use the product. We compare what we hear against the filter, and we change the product only when both agree.
Slow iteration is a feature. The patience is the point.
What this looks like in practice
Our first product is Vesspr, an AI companion that checks in on you first. It exists because loneliness is a quiet, real problem that software can sometimes ease, and because the existing answers either overpromise or extract.
Two more are in the pipeline. Peekin is in private testing, focused on the people already in the room. Dating Reimagined is in development, matching people by how they think rather than how they pose.
Each product carries the same filter, the same scope discipline, and the same commitment to honest software. Read the manifesto for the longer version of why, or the safety page for what our products are and are not.
Common questions
What is Karooli?
Karooli is a product studio based in Delhi, India, building software that solves real human problems with intention, not noise. We test every product against a single filter: does this solve something real for a human? If the answer isn't an obvious yes, we don't build it.
How does Karooli decide what to build?
We start from real human problems, the quiet kind that don't show up in product roadmaps. We talk to real people, look for what repeats, and apply one filter: does this solve something real for a human? Market size, fundraising fit, and technical impressiveness are explicitly not part of that filter.
Why does Karooli build slowly?
Because the products we make sit close to people. Calm software, designed for restraint and built by small teams who share taste, takes longer to make. We would rather build one thing that genuinely helps than ten things that almost do.
What products does Karooli make?
Karooli currently builds Vesspr (an AI companion that checks in on you first, in public beta), Peekin (proximity-based social discovery, in testing), and Dating Reimagined (a dating experience matched through how people think, in development). See karooli.ai for the full product list.
Does Karooli run ads or sell user data?
No. Karooli does not run ads on karooli.ai or in any Karooli product, and we do not sell or share personal data with advertising networks. Our business model is the product itself, not the user's attention. See the safety and privacy pages for the full statement.
How can I work with or for Karooli?
We hire for taste, judgment, and love of the craft, in that order, and we hire slowly. If our mission resonates, write to hello@karooli.ai with what you've made and what you'd want to build with us.
If you want to work with us, or just say hello, write to hello@karooli.ai. We read everything.
